I'm replacing the retention mushroom screwed into the base plate of the Siemens S Series dental chair. Those plastic mushrooms are no longer produced, making replacement parts non-existent or woefully overpriced. Feel free to suggest corrections and remix this text as you see fit - it's still a work-in-progress. Here's version 2, fresh out of prototyping and ready for field testing. It boasts thicker walls (a whopping 100% increase) and shorter cuttings that prevent the braces from breaking as easily as they did in version 1. Given that aftermarket pieces can cost around €50 for four units without shipping or tax, this is a viable option for replacement. Update: This part has been rigorously tested for nearly two years under normal daily loads in a clinic with no signs of failure whatsoever.
