Our robotics team was busy cleaning up, and we had some extra Denso car window motors left over. I've got a Marvin Casement window in my workshop that's really hard to open, requiring me to climb onto my workbench - it's quite frustrating. So, I've come up with a plan to motorize the window by replacing the crank handle with one of these motors. This adapter connects the Denso shaft to the Marvin crank shaft. Now, I still need to finish designing the mounting bracket that will hold the motor at the right angle, but that's a project for another day. I've included an OpenScad file so you can adjust this adapter to fit other windows. Getting it to fit over the two shafts was quite tricky, and it might be a bit loose in the long run, but it seems consistent with how tight the window handle is. There's a parameter that lets you fudge the size of the holes to account for printing variances - I hate measuring something exactly and then entering an adjusted number directly; instead, I'd rather show the actual measurement and fudge it. I'm worried that the 3D printed splines for the window shaft might not hold up. If that's the case, I'll redesign the adapter to use one of these male hex driver adapters from Hardware Source, which slide onto the splines and give a 5/8" hex shaft to work with. I used these in my previous house with an extension pole, and they worked well enough.
