Denon He7000: Replacement Headband Mod for Denon DX000 and Fostex THX00 Headphones
thingiverse
The Denon DX000 and Fostex THX00 headphones series stand out as impressive pieces of audio equipment, but a major drawback is their fragile headband design. Specifically, the thin hanger structure puts immense torque on a weak screw, leading to multiple hanger failures over time. Acquiring replacement parts for these headphones, particularly Denon's, proves extremely difficult and expensive. Rather than investing in new screws and hangers, users can repurpose the existing earcups by attaching them directly to HiFiman comfort headbands. The HiFiman headband offers superior comfort and is available at a reasonable price of $9.99 USD from Adorama in the US or through the Hifiman store at a higher cost. Even after replacing the stock magnesium baffles with plastic ones, sound quality remains unaffected. The earcups are secured to the new baffles using standard screws and fasteners, while the baffle simply clips into place on the HiFiman headband.
