Denkmal August Hermann Francke
sketchfab
August Hermann Francke was born on March 12, 1663, in Lübeck and passed away on June 8, 1727, in Halle. He was a well-known theologian at the time and the main representative of Hall Pietism. The monument was created by sculptor Christian Daniel Rauch in 1829. This statue is located at the end of Lindenhof and was originally intended to be installed in front of the main building. The life-sized figure of the founder of the institution with two orphaned children belongs to the early bourgeois monuments in Germany and represents a major work of late classical German sculpture art in its simplicity and dignity.
