Denario de plata (Siglo I a.C.)

This silver coin minted in Caesaragusta (Zaragoza) during the time of Emperor Augustus was found casually alongside numerous other coins belonging to a treasure trove, which was hidden at the beginning of the 1st century AD. On one side, we find the head of Augustus with the inscription CAESAR AVGVSTVS, and on the other side, a radiating comet and the inscription DIVVS IVLIVS (Divine Julius). This comet, known as "Sidvs Ivlivm" or "Cometa de César" (-43 K1), was visible for seven days in July of 44 BC during the celebration of the "Ludi Victoriae Caesaris," the funerary games in honor of Julius Caesar, who had been assassinated a few months earlier. This event was interpreted as the ascension of Caesar's soul to the heavens and his deification. The Cometa de César may have been the brightest comet ever recorded in history. Google Arts & Culture
