Demo case with tapered holding mechanism
thingiverse
I created microwells for work purposes; check them out here (http://tinyurl.com/6bm6bth). When presenting posters, having demonstration samples is helpful. I made a demo case a few years ago to store and protect my microwells from dust. I am sharing this on the forum as someone asked about fitting parts together. The case's interface tapers, allowing it to click together perfectly. Initially, I left either 0.5 or 1.0 mm allowance in one direction, which has been perfect for wear over time. This strategy is forgiving of printing imperfections, and a zero allowance might have sufficed initially but may wear down with frequent use. The case was printed on a Stratasys Dimension printer. To make it printable, you may need Meshlab editing. Unfortunately, I can't find the original .aoi files to post, but I will if I do. Remember proper orientation during printing to avoid stair-stepping issues on inclined planes.
