Deluxe Wasp Trap - from Ragu Sauce Bottle
thingiverse
Upcycle a Ragu 45 ounce pasta sauce bottle into a Deluxe Wasp Trap, transforming an ordinary container into a potent pest catcher. Hang it using a Bottle Feeder Hook or print the version with built-in holes for tying on a string. Alternatively, simply set it down near where the pesky critters are swarming. To make it even more effective, consider adding a small funnel from the dollar store to the top of the jar, but that wouldn't be nearly as much fun. Instead, print something cool like this Deluxe Wasp Trap and use a bait that won't attract honey bees. In the spring when wasps are on the hunt for protein, try using rotting meat or fish as a lure. Later in the year, mix sugar, vinegar, and salt to create a potent trap. The cap is specifically sized for PLA, but you may need to scale up by about 0.8% when printing in ABS to ensure a snug fit. The threads (yellow band in the photo) were created using my own OpenSCAD design element. I imported the mesh into 123D Design and used Netfabb Basic to patch it up and create the final design. The result is a functional and visually appealing Deluxe Wasp Trap that's sure to impress.
