Deluxe Tardis MOD - with sound board and microcontroller
thingiverse
This was one of the most impressive designs I've ever seen printed here on Thingiverse. The designer @countspatula truly outdid themselves with this masterpiece! The print quality turned out exceptional, which inspired me to take it a step further by adding some electronics and writing custom code... See it in action: https://youtu.be/lKnkmp4UNAI To give my project the brains it needed, I opted for an ATTiny85 microcontroller. However, you could easily use a smaller Arduino like a Nano or Pro Micro instead - or even an Adafruit Trinket! Check out this option at https://www.adafruit.com/product/1501. For the sound effects, I used these fantastic components: Adafruit Audio FX Mini Sound Board - WAV/OGG Trigger - 2MB Flash: https://www.adafruit.com/products/2342 Adafruit Mono 2.5W Class D Audio Amplifier - PAM8302: https://www.adafruit.com/products/2130 On March 12, 2017, I added another code option to the mix. The file "tardis_dualmode.ino" now allows you to connect a switch to the microcontroller. This clever setup enables you to toggle between silent mode and sound on/off with just a snap! In silent mode, the light will continue to fade until you snap again to turn it back on.
