Delta Vase
thingiverse
In learning Grasshopper for Rhino 3D, I chose to model a Delta vase designed by Dutch artist Mart van Schijndel due to its visually simple geometry. I was intrigued to see how an algorithm would adapt this shape with varying side numbers and dimensions. The original design features only three glass planes, so 3D printing diminishes the simplicity. Check out the original Delta vase at http://www.martvanschijndel.nl/en/product-design/project/56/delta-vaas-1981. I've also shared two other outputs from the algorithm: a six-sided shot glass-like object and a seventeen-sided tall vase. To use, access the Rhino 3D file and Grasshopper script provided. In Grasshopper, define the algorithm through points D and choose between options #1 or #2. Adjust height, width, and side number using sliders.
With this file you will be able to print Delta Vase with your 3D printer. Click on the button and save the file on your computer to work, edit or customize your design. You can also find more 3D designs for printers on Delta Vase.
