A simple clip-on tension spring for my Micromake delta printer's diagonal rods helps to reduce the backlash of ball joints and z-wobble/shifting. It probably won't fit other printers, but it may give you some inspiration. Update: Word of caution - I've tested this over a few days and noticed that it is less springy now, so it might not hold up well over long term use.
