Delta Smart Effector Circular Fan Duct

Delta Smart Effector Circular Fan Duct

thingiverse

Quick Start ----------- This Thing is a circular or semi-circular fan duct designed specifically for use with the Duet3D Delta Smart Effector. It consists of two main components: * EffectorCircularFanDuct -- This is the actual fan duct itself, available in three variant STL files to accommodate different surround angles: 180, 270, and 360 degrees. * EffectorFanBracket -- A modified version of the bracket that attaches the fan to the Duet3D Delta Smart Effector, with a slightly adjusted angle to ensure proper alignment. Both OpenSCAD (.scad) and STL files are provided for both parts. For a quick print-and-go solution, simply print the EffectorFanBracket.stl file and the corresponding EffectorCircularFanDuct-{angle}.stl file for your desired surround angle. The Benchies in one of the photos demonstrate the significant improvement in print quality achieved by using this fan duct design compared to printing without cooling or using a different fan duct. The 180-degree version of this fan duct removes any remaining blemishes, while the 270- and 360-degree versions offer even better results but may require more material. Assembling the system requires the following hardware: * Two M3 screws and nuts to connect the EffectorFanBracket, 40mm fan, and EffectorCircularFanDuct. Longer screws (20mm or more) might be necessary for a secure fit. * Two shorter screws (12mm or longer) to secure the bottom of the fan to the fan duct, improving airflow efficiency. * Magballs and M3 nuts to attach the EffectorFanBracket to the Delta Smart Effector. Customization ------------- The fan used in this design is a 40x40x10mm unit. If you have a different-sized fan, you may need to adjust the Thing accordingly. A thinner fan might require minor tweaks to the EffectorFanBracket, while a thicker fan may necessitate changes to both parts. Larger or smaller fans will require more significant adjustments. To customize the EffectorCircularFanDuct.scad file using OpenSCAD: * Add a recycling symbol by editing the recycleNum variable on line 10. * Set the number of degrees of arc covered by the fan's vents by modifying the ringDegrees variable on line 15. * Adjust other variables (18-41) to make further tweaks, such as changing the shell thickness or airflow direction. Remember to rebuild the STL file using OpenSCAD after making any changes. The provided STL files do not include a recycle symbol, so you'll need to edit the recycleNum variable and add the recycling_symbol.scad file from the OpenSCAD library (https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:216963) to your directory. The EffectorFanBracket provided is a modified version of dc42's design, with an altered angle to ensure proper alignment. If you need to tweak this detail, edit the Angle variable on line 13 of EffectorFanBracket.scad. Alternatively, you can try using dc42's original EffectorFanBracket.stl file from https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2467663 if your fan duct lifts up. If your hotend is shorter or longer than a standard E3D V6 (such as with a Volcano hotend), you may need to adjust the EffectorFanBracket accordingly. Print cooling fan mount for Duet3D PCB effector and E3D V6 Volcano (https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2573606) might be a useful resource in this case.
