I needed a reliable design that would allow me to mount my 8oz Techcon cartridge securely on the rod ends. Initially, I created it out of MDF and carriage bolts based on a well-known design, but unfortunately, the MDF proved too weak and the screws stripped easily. This new design features holes for machine screws and slots for the nuts, making installation sturdy yet straightforward. There's also a tensioning clip to hold the cartridge in place using a #10 m screw. The updated platform design is identical, except it has chamfers on the edges, resulting in a crisp print that was unpleasant to handle without sanding. A bayonet mount tolerance of approximately 0.35mm allows for smooth movement while still providing a tight grip on the printer bed. This setup enables easy removal of the whole cartridge from the printer for loading.
