Delta Kossel Cooling Fans

Delta Kossel Cooling Fans

This design has been replaced by a new one featuring 2 blower fans and LED lights in the base, which can be found here: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2882639. The fan setup uses 1 x 40mm x 10mm axial fan for hot end cooling and two standard 4020S blower fans on the sides. The print with the two fans weighs 78g. I aimed to keep the design as compact as possible, allowing the head to reach the outside of the print bed without interfering with anything. Update: February 6, 2017 - If your effector doesn't use Traxxas joints but larger bearing ends instead, switch to the "Extra Clearance" fan STL. This lowers the fans enough under the effector to clear large bearings while maintaining the original height of the design. Update: May 14, 2017 - I uploaded an adjustable vent version for those who want to direct airflow. The STL files have the "ADJ" label in them. I'm using it on an E3D V5 but it's not sufficient for an E3D V6. Print Settings: * Printer: Kossel * Rafts: No * Supports: No * Resolution: 0.3mm * Infill: 50% * Notes: While fans can be connected to a RAMPs board for control, I prefer manual control, connecting them to a simple PWM control found online. The majority of the time when cooling is needed on a print, I set the PWM control pot to about 60%, and up to 80% or more during single wall vase mode. When printing complex objects like rocket noses, I often reach 100%. Fans are mounted in such a way that Traxxas rod ends won't touch them, and the effector mount will clear them. My Kossel/Delta has an effector plate with 40mm spacing mounts, making it incompatible with Mini Kossels. The hot end used is an E3D-V5, with a nozzle extending 6mm below. M3 screws are used to attach fans (3 per blower fan, 4 for the axial head cooling fan). For the adjustable vent version, I warn that vents are a snug fit! I print them at 50% infill, slow speed (30mm/s), and 0.2 layer height. The hole in the fan housing is 10mm, and the vents are 10mm in diameter. If you want some wiggle room, scale the vent pieces slightly. For a tighter fit, I prefer them to be snug so they don't move once adjusted. Note that this fan setup will only work with Traxxas rod ends.
