Delta corner reinforcements (2020 profile)
thingiverse
The frame of my Kossel XL delta printer is crafted from 2020 aluminum profile, while my corner pieces are made from printed plastic. This resulted in a frame that was quite soft and wobbly due to its low rotational stiffness. To address this issue, I designed simple corner reinforcements with my brother. The end result is a significantly more rigid frame that has positively impacted print quality and potential maximum printing speed. To create these corner reinforcements, you will need: 1. Cut 6 corner reinforcement pieces from 2mm aluminum sheet (e.g., using CNC equipment). 2. Drill 6 screw holes into each piece, with 3 or 4mm being the most suitable size. 3. Bend the 6 pieces to the proper angle (60 or 30 degrees, depending on your perspective). 4. Secure the reinforcement pieces to the frame of your printer using 36 screws and nuts (I used M3 and M4x8mm screws with corresponding T-slot nuts). Note: The triangular holes in the middle of the design are optional; you can cut them to half the size of your corner pieces if desired.
