Delta Benchy
myminifactory
For a 3d Printing award, it has to represent 3d printing. I started 3d printing with a Cheap Delta 3d printer, it is a cool design, so I have used that as my base model. Secondly, The printer has to print something.... so the best option was a Benchy. This is one of the most printed items for beginners and is highly remixed. I love this little print and I belive it represents the 3d printing diy Industry. Next, an award needs to be more than just a simple thing to stick on the shelf to collect dust. So why not add some simple smart electronics? A simple 16 x Neopixel RGB ring for the Heatbead and an additional single RGB for the Hotend. Connected to an Arduino with a DHT11 Temperature sensor - The RGB Lights up the model depending on room temperature. http://www.themakersworkbench.com/tutorial/dht11-based-temperature-monitoring-neopixels After some research into the award, I have listed all the main sponsors onto the top of the Delta printer for a reminder to the award winner. Extra space is made under the printer to install the electronics. I have tried to design this Award to be printed without supports with a SLA printer, but unfortunantly I do not have a SLA printer to run a test print. Hope you all enjoy the design.
