Dell Visor + HTC Deluxe Audio Strap Adapter
thingiverse
Prototype of an adapter to use an HTC Deluxe Audio Strap with a Dell Visor Windows Mixed Reality headset. With a proper buckle I am also working on a way to use the regular cloth strap as well with it. Currently prototyping parts and not finalized as of 8/18/2020. This is a remix of parts derived from yolego20 and Drcube's HTC Vive Deluxe audio strap adapter for HP mixed reality headset and the Pimex headset respectively. I also bought a model someone made of the Dell Visor as well so this has helped put things in perspective virtually. The reason for the remix is because I am unable to properly fit the side pieces of the Pimax adapter on my Visor because its completely flat whereas the Visor has a curve on its side. It just isn't flat enough to properly stick too and if I print in TPU it would bend to much so I can't print it that way either. The adapter piece of the HP design won't fit either because of the very same reason. So I have modified the Pimax one specifically to allow for a better fit so I know it won't detach easier when its actually in use. This modified piece should allow for a better fit and make it easier to be glued or taped on to the side without it loosening or hanging. I'm still doing my best to properly measure things out to get the dimensions of the curve exactly so to help also bought a Dell Visor model online to reference for the curve. Once I can successfully print and test fit to see if they fit on the real deal I'll update and post pictures. Edit 2/4/2021: Scrapped the last design because in the end it was to complicated for the printer and to be installed right. Re-did it to use less filament and after a quick test print its finally at the point I can basically call it done! I originally wanted the side to be done in two parts but it was easier to just do it together and print with supports in the actual buckle piece. I'm uploading the new ones I have and while I still have a few adjustments I want to make I will no longer deviate from this design. Edit 2/3/2021: Back at it this time I have opted to re-design the entire thing again and this time I have my own 3D printer as well so this has made protyping much better! This time around I decided to design the clip to make it easy to stick to the Dell therefore its much larger! Still working on it I'll post when it works! Edit 8/18/2020: Printed out the sidepiece connector and thankfully it fits great with the curve of the headset. I printed it out with the generic XYZ PLA my printer comes with which isn't ideal since I believe this needs to be flexible but at least I know the fit is right. One problem I do need to address is that the connecter piece is thin enough that you can make out a partial outline of the actual connector. This will be updated soon enough though. I also modified the loop connector for the top strap was also changed slightly so that the slip is slightly larger. If you need the original one you can use the one from the original wmr project. Edit 8/14/2020: I modified the bit that would go onto the Dell Visor to hopefully be simpler when printing.
