If you are reading this chances are that you are the owner of a Dell PowerEdge T30 server, of which you have removed the optical drive for the purpose of installing a 2.5'' drive. If that’s the case, you’re probably aware of the hole that remains on the front of the case after removing the optical drive. According to Dell, what you need to do is to install an optical drive filler, which though is not included in the package. I've spent more than two hours trying to figure out where I could purchase this part. Until I’ve finally given up, and decided to design my own optical drive filler and print it with my 3D printer. Print instructionsThe part is designed on FreeCAD and the fcstd file is available for download. So, if you need to adjust the dimensions a bit, it should be pretty straightforward.
