Dell Laptop Power Adapter Cord Wrap
thingiverse
I purchased a Dell Latitude Business laptop, but unfortunately, it came with inadequate cable management features like velcro straps and other organizational tools. This led to tangled cords and the power adapter constantly getting caught on everything as I tried to pull it out of my bag. This custom cable wrap is specifically designed for the Dell Slim Power Adapter 65w and 90w models, which were included with some Dell Latitudes in recent years and have rounded sides (see images). It may also fit other adapters with similar shapes if they share the same width of approximately 66.5mm and a thickness of 22.5mm. You can find more information about these power adapters on dell.com: http://www.dell.com/en-us/shop/accessories/apd/492-bbom?ref=p13n_ena_pdp_vv&c=us&cs=04&l=en&s=bsd http://www.dell.com/en-us/shop/accessories/apd/332-1833?ref=p13n_ena_pdp_vv&c=us&cs=04&l=en&s=bsd Dell has created other power adapters with similar designs. Feel free to modify the design idea to suit your adapter's needs. I designed this cable wrap in two parts, resulting in components that don't require supports during printing. This also allows for better heat dissipation and exposes more of the adapter. The posts are curved with beveled edges to prevent unnecessary wear on the wiring. Assembly: The pieces are friction-fit together and have a small lip to prevent them from sliding apart when you start wrapping. If your prints have less tolerance, they might not fit snugly. If your prints are too loose or you want extra security, each piece has a channel for running zip-ties through. You can use multiple zip ties chained together, depending on their size. I used six 140mm long zip ties, three chained together on each side. Please note that the two pieces are slightly different. The piece with the notch cut out is designed for the side where the cable plugs into the laptop (DC side), while the other piece (AC side) is intended for the side with the 3-prong plug that goes into the wall. There are three files available: AC side, DC side, and a combined file. I include all three in case some users want to print one at a time or have smaller print beds. To use: First, wrap the wall plug (AC) lengthwise around the adapter, using the groove between the posts to keep it in place. Then start wrapping the cable around the posts. Next, take the laptop plug (DC) and wrap it around the smaller posts on the side. You can use any remaining slack to wrap around the entire unit horizontally to hold the other cable in place. You can also add a large rubber band or velcro strap to help keep everything organized.
