Dell Insperion 7000 Series (Clone)
thingiverse
I own a Dell Inspiron 7000 Series Notebook, so I thought it would be a great SolidWorks modeling challenge to recreate it in 3D. Eventually, I kind of wanted that it would make a fantastic case for a DIY computer using an ARM/MIPS/x86 SBC (Single Board Computer) to power it. This is currently a WIP (Work in Progress), and I will continue to modify it and upload the changes as the model is perfected (there are a few bugs in the hinge that I need to work out). The bottom half is currently one solid piece, which I will hollow out and make room for electronics to put inside of it. Probably the first board that I'll modify this model to accommodate will be the PCduino and the Raspberry Pi 2. Another idea for mainboards would be a 5th Gen i5/i7 from CongaTec (http://www.congatec.com/en/products/com-express-type6/conga-tc97.html). Additionally, I'll be designing a keyboard and mouse that can be prototyped and added to this computer case. Until the hinge is perfect and I'm happy with the rest of the design, I'll only be uploading SolidWorks parts and assembly files. Once I feel it's actually ready to 3D Print, I'll upload STL files (for those of you who don't have SolidWorks) which will be ready to print and accept a specific mainboard (probably just PCDuino and Raspberry Pi at first). Comment if you would like me to add certain features to the design. How I Designed This SolidWorks 2015
