Link stumbles through the Lost Woods in pursuit of the Skull Kid and falls into a large hole leading to the parallel world of Termina. As he tumbles through, he catches a glimpse of the Skull Kid at the end of the hole, wearing the Majora's Mask with an eerie laugh. Link transforms into a Deku Scrub. The Happy Mask Salesman later finds him and explains that Link can return to his original form if they retrieve the Ocarina of Time that was stolen from him. Link agrees to the quest and spends three days exploring Clock Town, interacting with various townsfolk along the way. He manages to confront the Skull Kid atop the Clock Tower and uses a Bubble Blast to knock the Ocarina out of the kid's hands, then quickly scoops it up and begins to play. As he plays, the Pipes of Awakening appear instead of the Ocarina of Time, but Link isn't deterred. He continues to play and presents the recovered instrument to the Happy Mask Salesman, who teaches him the "Song of Healing." This magical song soothes Link's soul and restores him to his human form. As a result of breaking the curse, the Deku Mask materializes, granting Link the ability to transform at will into a Deku Scrub when worn. Link begins his quest to find a way to retrieve the Majora's Mask that is controlling the Moon's crash into Termina. With his new transformation power, he can navigate the Southern Swamp by hopping across its toxic waters.
