It is known for its enigmatic appearance and its discovery sparked great curiosity and speculation among paleontologists. For many years, the rest of the Deinocheirus skeleton remained a mystery until more fossils were discovered, providing further insights. Despite its size, it had a relatively slim and elongated body. Deinocheirus had a long neck and a small, narrow skull compared to its body size. While its forelimbs were massive and adorned with formidable claws, the purpose of these adaptations is still a subject of debate.
