Dehumidifier for 3D printer
thingiverse
I was a bit concerned my 3D printer filament might be getting soggy since sometimes a reel lasts many weeks. So I decided to build this little dehumidifier that would look neat inside my DaVinci Jr 1.0. It looks great in there and is clipped onto the frame so it doesn't shift around or fall over. I used some water-absorbing crystals bought at a local hardware store. The PLA might not be ideal for this because of the chemicals in the crystals and the water that will accumulate. I could have just varnished the inside but I decided it would be nice to put a plastic crystal holder inside instead. To accomplish this, I made the box the right size for a large Tic-Tac mint box, which I cut to fit with a cutout for the front airflow. The OpenSCAD file is included so you can modify the design to suit other ways of holding crystals, as well as let you customize (or remove) the 20x20mm section frame clip.
