This 3D model started life in Sketchup 8 before being converted into various other 3D formats. Native format is .skp, while the 3ds Max scene is from version 2016 of the software, and rendering was handled by Vray 3.00 - courtesy of original creator WilliamT. De Havilland Canada kicked off development of the Dash 8 back in the late 1970s, driven by strong market demand for a cutting-edge commuter airliner capable of carrying between 30 and 40 passengers. The Dash 8 placed emphasis on operating economics over Short Take Off and Landing (STOL) performance, which turned out to be a far more winning strategy. Like the earlier Dash 7 model, the Dash 8 features a wing positioned high above its body and T-tail configuration, advanced flight controls, and large full-length flaps along its trailing edge. Propulsion is courtesy of two Pratt & Whitney Canada PW120 series turboprops (originally designated PT7A). The first flight of the initial prototype took place on June 20th, 1983, while Canadian certification was secured a year later on September 28th, 1984. The first commercial delivery went to NorOntair of Canada on October 23rd, 1984.
