The DHC-8-100 model boasts high accuracy regarding its actual general dimensions, featuring full texturing and intricate details. It has been a popular choice for small to medium-sized carriers and airlines, with over 1000 orders placed; Bombardier anticipates sales of around 1200 by 2016. However, production for the 100 series ceased in 2005, while the 200, 300, and 400 series continue to be produced. There are plans to develop a stretched version of the 400 (possibly 500 or 600) in the near future. De Havilland sold the Dash 8 production and licensing rights to Bombardier.
