The DHC-8-100 model is an accurate replica, closely adhering to actual dimensions; it boasts full texture and intricate details, making it ideal for animation purposes. Animated features include landing gear, doors, flaps, ailerons, elevators, and rudder. Available in 11 formats, the Dash 8 emerged as an improvement on the Dash 7 series, with enhanced short takeoff and landing capabilities. As a twin-engine turbo-prop airliner, it's designed for regional short to medium haul routes, seating up to 39 passengers in the 100 series. Focusing on cruise and economy performance, the Dash 8 has become popular among small to medium-sized carriers and airlines. Over 1,000 orders have been placed, with Bombardier anticipating sales reaching nearly 1,200 by 2016; however, production for the 100 series ceased in 2005. Meanwhile, the 200, 300, and 400 series continue to be produced, with potential development of a stretched version (500 or 600) of the 400 under consideration. De Havilland sold Dash 8 series production and licensing rights to Bombardier.
