The DHC-8-100 model is intricately designed, closely resembling its real counterpart in terms of dimensions. The Dash 8 originated from the Dash 7 series, known for its exceptional short takeoff and landing capabilities. As a twin-engine turbo-prop airliner, the Dash 8 serves regional short to medium haul routes, seating up to 39 passengers in the 100 series. Focusing on cruise and economy performance, the Dash 8 has become popular among small to medium-sized carriers and airlines, with over 1,000 orders placed so far. Bombardier anticipates sales to reach around 1,200 by 2016. However, production of the 100 series ceased in 2005, while the 200, 300, and 400 models are still being produced. There is speculation about developing a stretched version (500 or 600) of the 400 model in the near future. De Havilland sold the Dash 8 series' production and licensing to Bombardier.
