The DHC-8-100 boasts high fidelity, closely mirroring actual aircraft dimensions. It is fully textured and detailed, making it a great animation subject. Animateable features comprise landing gear, gear doors, flaps, ailerons, elevators, and rudder. The model is available in 11 formats. The Dash 8 evolved from the Dash 7 series, featuring short takeoff and landing capabilities. Serving regional short to medium haul routes, the Dash 8 is a twin-engine turbo-prop airliner seating up to 39 passengers in its 100 series. Focusing on cruise and economy performance, it has become popular among small to medium carriers and airlines. Over 1000 orders have been placed, with Bombardier anticipating sales to reach approximately 1200 by 2016. Production for the 100 series ceased in 2005; however, the 200, 300, and 400 series continue production. There are ongoing discussions of developing a stretched version (500 or 600) of the 400 series in the near future. De Havilland sold the Dash 8's production and licensing rights to Bombardier.
