The DHC-8-100, closely modeled after actual dimensions, boasts full texturing and intricate detailing, making it ideal for animation purposes. Originating from the Dash 7 series with exceptional short takeoff and landing capabilities, the Dash 8 serves regional short to medium-haul routes, seating up to 39 passengers on the 100 variant. Focusing on cruise and economy performance, the Dash 8 series has become popular among small to medium-sized airlines, with over 1000 orders received so far, expected to reach approximately 1200 by 2016; however, 100 series production ceased in 2005. The 200, 300, and 400 series remain in production, with potential developments of a stretched version (500/600) of the 400 under consideration. De Havilland, initially responsible for the Dash 8 series' production and licensing, sold it to Bombardier.
