The de Havilland Canada DHC-2 Beaver is a renowned single-engine bush plane, known for its high-wing and STOL capabilities. First built in 1947, it has been widely used for cargo and passenger hauling, aerial application, and as a utility aircraft by armed forces. The US Army still employs nine Beavers with the Civil Air Patrol for search and rescue missions. A Royal New Zealand Air Force Beaver supported Sir Edmund Hillary's South Pole expedition.
