The de Havilland Canada DHC-2 Beaver is a single-engine aircraft with high-wing and propeller drive, known for its STOL capabilities as a bush plane. It serves various purposes like cargo and passenger transport, aerial application, and utility aircraft for armed forces. Nine of these planes are still in service with the Civil Air Patrol for search and rescue missions, while one supported Sir Edmund Hillary's South Pole expedition. With over 1,600 Beavers produced until 1967 when the original line ceased production, this aircraft has left a lasting legacy.
