The de Havilland Canada DHC-2 Beaver is a renowned bush plane characterized by its single-engine, high-wing structure and propeller-driven mechanism. Primarily utilized for cargo and passenger transportation, aerial application, and as a utility aircraft by armed forces, this model's STOL capabilities are noteworthy. The US Army acquired numerous Beavers, with nine still in service today for search and rescue tasks via the Civil Air Patrol. A Royal New Zealand Air Force Beaver supported Sir Edmund Hillary's South Pole expedition. Manufactured by de Havilland Canada until 1967 when production ceased, over 1,600 Beavers were produced during its run.
