Defiant Wings 63 GoPro Session Mount
thingiverse
This is a GoPro Session mount designed specifically for the Defiant 63 from Defiant Wings (https://www.defiantwings.com/wings/defiant-63). The mount is meant to be printed from TPU so that the FPV camera hatch remains flexible. Credit for this design goes to Justin Cumming and Adam Proulx, who came up with the creative concept. I simply adapted their Defiant 42 mount to fit the center section of the Defiant 63. To install this mount, you will need to cut a slot 1mm wide and 40mm back from the leading edge of the center section. The mount is designed to extend slightly from the nose to protect surrounding components (refer to the second picture: the part marked in red indicates where the foam will be placed, with a clear edge visible in the print). However, cutting 40mm back will ensure that the airfoil aligns perfectly. I recommend using Goop to secure the mount in place and avoid applying any adhesive near the hatch to prevent it from being locked down. I have exported three different versions of this design to accommodate various FPV camera lenses. The 16mm lens hole is specifically designed for the RunCam Eagle 2 Pro (which I fly and tested with), while the 17mm lens hole should fit a Foxeer Monster or similar model. There's also an 18mm lens hole for even larger lenses. A little wiggle room has been left to either side of the FPV camera to make installation easier and accommodate a wide range of cameras. A few drops of hot glue will keep it in place. The mount also features a plug designed to snap into place, allowing you to fly without risking your Session. The plug includes slots for Hangar 9 1/4oz iron weights (which seem to be the standard now). You will need to remove the sticky backing from these weights, but they will fit snugly in the mount once done. On my printer, printing at 75% infill results in a total weight of 73g with six weights (the same as the Session). The plug should hold securely enough not to require a strap, but you can use one if you prefer. If you're unable or unwilling to print this design, Shawn at Defiant Wings will be offering them for sale on his store, providing an alternative option. Sorry that the pictures didn't turn out well with clear filament. If you encounter any other issues, please let me know. Enjoy!
