This vase originates from a rare archaeological marble, likely part of an Egyptian-inspired capital adorned with water leaves, completed at a later time by adding a lower border and an egg motif. The base, lid, and side handles shaped like ram's heads were added in the modern era. This antiquarian composition in Piranesian style echoes the 18th-century fashion for using ancient vases and urns as decorative pieces in gardens and interiors.
