Decorative Geared Latch Box
thingiverse
Hello! I designed this awesome decorative box from scratch for my Dad's birthday gift. To be frank, it ended up being a bit late - literally a year past due - due to various delays and the fact that it took me significantly longer to design than I anticipated. Every printed component was designed from scratch, and it required several test iterations to get a smooth drivetrain. I spent a lot of time designing this, and I believe it would be a waste if there were only one out there, so I'm really looking forward to seeing someone build it! My original plan was to make it out of wood filament and sand/stain/varnish to achieve that nice wooden look with black gears, but I gave up after a few failed prints on the box. In addition to the printed components, you'll need: x19 M3x12 button head cap screws x2 Everbilt 2-inch brass hinges - https://www.homedepot.ca/product/everbilt-2-inch-solid-brass-narrow-hinge-fixed-pin-2pk/1000773733 The assembly drawing should provide you with enough information to assemble it. The large gear on the side will fit if you simply flex it to get it in. I hope you and enjoy this project, and I'm happy to help if people have questions! If there is enough interest, I can also provide the SolidWorks files.
