Decorative Astrolabe

Decorative Astrolabe

thingiverse

This ornate astrolabe was custom-made by the Saint Louis Art Museum for a special occasion. Astrolabes were originally used by astronomers and mathematicians to make precise calculations about celestial bodies. The design of this decorative piece is based on an existing astrolabe in their permanent collection, but it's missing the crucial markings that enable users to perform actual calculations. To learn more about the original astrolabe, simply visit the Museum's website and search for "Astrolabe" under their online collection database. When printing out the design, make sure to scale down the terms "Astrolabe" and "Astrolabe Insert" to 75% of their actual size, while keeping all other elements at full scale for proper fitment.
