Decorated Tetrahedra
thingiverse
Tetrahedron ornaments, featuring raised patterns on their faces, can be crafted using plane curves and fullerene projections similar to those seen on disks and coins (thing:28301 and thing:27934). These attractive paperweights and desk ornaments are suitable for 3D printing due to their inward-sloping design. Patterns can be displayed in threes, with an additional recessed pattern on the base allowing a fourth to be shown. Six tetrahedron models with 21 unique patterns are available; three display plane curves and another three feature fullerene projections. The openSCAD programs (tetra_plane_curves.scad and tetra_bucky.scad) used to generate the STL files are provided below and were printed on a Replicator with 5% infill and 3 shells, taking just over an hour for completion. Utilizing these openSCAD programs is straightforward; users simply uncomment modules corresponding to their chosen patterns while commenting out unused ones.
