Decorated Harpoon Tip with Slot for End Blade. XCB-105-3591. 400 BCE -100 CE. XCB-105 Adamagan, an Aleut village located at the head of Morzhovoi Bay on the western Alaska Peninsula, was a massive settlement with diverse occupations when it was inhabited from 400 BCE to 100 CE. At its peak, it was the largest Arctic village, home to approximately 1,000 people. The Western Alaska Peninsula artifacts showcased here are a result of extensive research conducted under multiple NSF grants: 9630072, 9814086, 9996372, 9996415, 1139266, and 1321411. H. Maschner led the investigation as Principal Investigator. These artifacts were scanned using either a Faro Edge Arm or a Minolta Vivid 9i, then processed in Geomagic or Polyworks software. Two to eight photos were used for texture enhancement in Geomagic Wrap. The original digitizing work took place at Id. St. Univ.'s IVL, while subsequent processing and publication occurred at Global Digital Heritage.
