Declination Map for US, Laser Engraving
thingiverse
I've always found myself needing to Google my location's approximate declination in order to use my compass effectively. And when cell service is unavailable, I'm left with nothing but guesswork. After recently breaking my compass and replacing it, a new idea began to take shape. This is a simple base map made incredibly thin by overlaying single vectors and then labeling them. The plan was to engrave this very small design onto the cover of my compass. I required precise placement of this pattern since the Cubiio can be somewhat cumbersome; I created a custom base mount for it. The gcode is specifically designed for use with a Cubiio Laser Engraver, but the SVG can be resized to fit anything.
