Replacement for Deckorators pre-assembled stair rail kits ALX Contemporary connectors, model #351133, found at Lowes for $80+ a set, is utterly insane if you cut railings in smaller sections since more brackets are needed. This version uses M5 screws that are 35mm long, with encapsulated M5 nuts (regular or nylon lock nut would work just fine). I've used #8 x 3/4 inch sheet metal screws for both attachment to the upper and lower rails, and posts, predrilling beforehand is a must. They're just the hardware I had lying around, but you may want to change hole diameters if using different hardware.
