I wanted a way to keep the umbrella in our deck table steady at the base without having to use the giant, heavy freestanding base under the table. Mostly for two reasons, first, it made it hard to push the chairs in and second, holy cow did it hurt when I stubbed my toes on it.

So this is designed to be as minimally intrusive as possibly by slotting into the gap between the deck boards holding it steady in two directions. I also designed into the part a smaller hole inside the umbrella tube. This countersunk hole is intended to accommodate a screw in order to keep it fastened in the X and Y directions on your deck. What I personally plan to do after thinking about this, is to drill a tidy hole into the deck and use a nail to make it easily removable when needed.

The width of the tab was designed around the gaps on my deck and doesn't fit them all so there is some strategic positioning of the table required. Given the wide variation of decking gaps, you may need to alter this to fit your needs.

Print instructions

I printed this in Prusament PETG.

It's printed upside-down with a brim to keep it firmly planted.
