This support holds terra cotta planters off wooden deck rails by providing a channel for drainage. The channel allows water to flow away from the wood, preventing damage to the rail. My standard 1 x 6 pressure-treated board deck rail has an opening on the part that goes onto the rail of 142mm. I've included a 2mm thick test version of the STL file so you can print it as a template and check the fit on your own rail before committing to printing the entire thing. If you find the opening too wide, feel free to message me and I'll easily modify the file to narrow the inner wall by 2-3mm on each side, giving it a smaller opening. Note that not all terra cotta planters are created equal - I designed this support for one planter, then printed two more for another planter bought at a different time, only to find it too narrow. I modified the file to open it up and now it fits perfectly. The depth of the planter from front to back is 133mm for the first print and 141mm for the second print. Both STLs are posted along with a 2mm thick test STL. Printer Settings: I used my FlashForge Creator Pro printer to print this support. Rafts: No rafts were needed. Supports: Yes, supports were required for the channel. I set the supports to have .4mm of horizontal offset from the part to make it easy to pull out of the channel. Resolution: The resolution was set at .20mm. Infill: 15% infill was used. Notes: I printed four solid layers for the top and bottom shells, and three for the sides.
