Here's a video of it in action: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=runIP5c7XmA&feature=youtu.be Check out my group for LED enthusiasts, where I post new designs and updates. If you like my LED creations, join the group to stay informed about upcoming projects. I'm planning many more logos similar to this one, so feel free to suggest ideas and I'll make them a reality. This extruded LED Decepticon was printed on my dual-extruder 3D printer using a clever technique. First, I imported a JPEG of the logo into Solidworks and traced its outline with precision. Next, I created an STL file for the Decepticon by extruding and filleting it in Solidworks. Then, I designed a plate to hold the Decepticon securely, added screw holes for easy assembly, and saved that as a separate STL file. Finally, I crafted a shell to encase the entire assembly, complete with aligned screw holes for seamless integration. The shell was printed in black PLA on my Rep 2 3D printer, while the plate and Decepticon were created using dual extrusion. To bring this masterpiece to life, I used Bendlay - a specialized material that's incredibly translucent (91% of light passes through) - to print the Decepticon. The rest of the assembly was printed in regular PLA. Now, let's talk about lighting up this beauty! I wrapped an RGB LED strip around the inner shell and connected it to an IR receiver, allowing me to control it with a remote.
