Characteristics: This adapter model is designed for 3D printing in deposition machines to allow users to utilize their best available filtration membrane, thus preventing mask obsolescence due to a lack of specialized filters. The device consists of two parts: the adapter, which connects to the mask where the snorkel would originally be connected, and the grill that traps and seals the filter membrane against the adapter. The filter is a cutout from various available filter membranes such as N95 mask material, P100 filters, cloth, coffee filters, HEPA vacuum cleaner bags (without fiberglass), etc. Advantage: • The device can be easily manufactured on 3D deposition machines. • By allowing the use of different filter membranes, it prevents mask obsolescence. When resources are scarce, it provides protection even with non-ideal materials. • Disposable N95 masks must be discarded due to shape loss and seal failure caused by moisture exposure from breathing and user manipulation. With this device, the filter material lasts longer since it is less exposed to moisture and its structure remains intact between the adapter and grill. • The device can be easily cleaned with soap and water (excluding the filter membrane). • The device is more compact, preventing extension beyond the head and shock exposure. • A single filter membrane resource can be transformed into multiple units. For example, a single N95 mask can be cut into 2 or more filter membranes. • The device can be quickly redesigned to fit different snorkel masks makes and models. • The device allows users to perform face seal tests by covering the grill with their hand when inhaling and exhaling with the grill locked.
