Deathstroke, also known as Slade Joseph Wilson, is a supervillain who has appeared in various American comic books published by DC Comics. Co-created by Marv Wolfman and George Perez, he made his first appearance in The New Teen Titans #2 (December 1980). According to Wizard magazine, Deathstroke ranks among the top villains of all time as the 24th greatest, while IGN has listed him as the 32nd greatest comic book villain. Deathstroke operates as a mercenary and assassin who consistently clashes with the Teen Titans. However, writers have portrayed him over the years as a formidable foe to various other superheroes in the DC Universe, such as Batman and Green Arrow. He has been extensively adapted from comics into numerous forms of media, including several projects related to Batman and the animated series Teen Titans. Deathstroke has been brought to life on-screen by actors Manu Bennett in The CW's TV series Arrow and Joe Manganiello in the DC Extended Universe. Manganiello first appeared as Deathstroke in a 2017 cameo role in Justice League, a DC film.
