Deathclaw 2

Deathclaw 2

Last year I took apart a Deathclaw for Warmachine, cutting it up into printable pieces and scaling them down to size. It took me a week to complete, as I was still learning the ropes. I made plenty of mistakes along the way, but one of those prints now sits on my desk, serving as a constant reminder of what not to do. Yesterday, in just a couple hours, using all the knowledge I've gained from over a year of 3D printing and modeling, I remixed the Deathclaw once again. I made several key improvements this time around: * Instead of trying to design and model pins into each part, I opted to use 1.75mm PLA for a more seamless fit. * Scaling was significantly better, resulting in a more accurate representation. * The base design now incorporates the texture from the original model's base, adding an extra layer of detail. * New modeling techniques allowed me to preserve more intricate details. This Deathclaw model is designed specifically for Warmachine, but it should also be suitable for D&D. When assembling the parts, I found a small 1.75mm drill bit to be incredibly helpful in cleaning out the holes. I used CA glue, which worked exceptionally well on PLA. However, figuring out the right and left shins proved to be the most challenging part of assembly. To avoid frustration, I recommend building from the body outward. Starting with the base and feet is likely to cause headaches.
