Death Star Trophy ("Home Sweet Home!")

The death star sits proudly on top of a custom-built platform with the words "Home Sweet Home!" boldly displayed. It took me several days and numerous back-and-forth revisions between formats to complete this intricate model. In total, I probably reviewed around 40 different files before finalizing my design. To create it, I combined the three individual parts of the death star, filling in their hollow sections and merging them seamlessly together. However, removing the top hanger loop was a challenging task that didn't turn out perfectly. Initially, I had considered using an online platform for the base, but it contained far more surfaces than I had anticipated, making it difficult to add text to. Consequently, I chose to create the platform from scratch within Sketchup. To be honest, I often find myself frustrated with Sketchup's limitations when compared to AutoCAD, particularly its capabilities 15 years ago. Fortunately, my experience in printing has yet to begin; therefore, if someone else is willing to take on this project and share their results, I'd greatly appreciate hearing about it. Instructions To bring the death star to life, I took a pre-existing model and reassembled it into its three separate parts after editing both within Sketchup and Repetier Host. For the base platform, I designed it entirely in Sketchup and employed Meshlab for file conversions whenever necessary. When dealing with key junctions, I often needed to convert an .stl file to Netfabb Cloud to fill holes or remove any unnecessary lines. In the end, I resized my final model within Repetier Host.
