Death Star Laser Cut 3D model
thingiverse
I chose to host a May 4th celebration this year as my 34th birthday milestone approached. Following a recent laser cutting spree, I found myself lacking inspiration for decorative ideas, so I opted to create a death star design using my laser cutter. This project began with a standard death star image and several variations, which I used as reference points. Starting from scratch, I crafted a solid base file devoid of detail, then enlarged it slightly to accommodate the intricate top layer. Next, I created an intermediate layer showcasing the visible black components by reducing color channels. Finally, I designed the topmost layer, selecting only the brightest image elements and refining them for optimal clarity. To complete the design, I manufactured custom risers to separate the layers and drilled holes into each one to facilitate a seamless fit.
