Death Star Earth. That's no moon. It's a re-purposed planet! My theory is that the Imperial Army started construction at Hawaii and drained the earth dry of water - thus the exposed continental shelf around the areas of earth currently under water! Jan 2 Update: I designed a holder for this: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:5761707 . Dec 10 Update: Death Star Earth 2 is #1 with the land a bit higher. Death Star Earth 3 is #2 but with the weapon mostly centered over Hawaii. Dec 12 Update: Added a head to it to make it a Christmas ornament (DSE 3 Orna...). Print it hollow (no infill, no supports), with the flat on the bed, then shave/cut off the flat, and you should be able to make an ornament. Use a 1/2" ornament head. I used the Sea Floor Globe with the sea floor removed so I had a smooth earth land. The Death Star was inserted just below ground level. This gives a strange effect of a pseudo-dewatered earth where the figurative ocean floor is the death star. Notes: This was my first use of MeshMixer since SolidWorks can't handle mesh files with this many polygons. I spent like 30 minutes trying to figure out the controls before getting this simple merge and sculpting away the parts of earth hiding the Death Star. First test print was way too small (pictured) - about 1.5 inch with 0.1mm layers, and the land wasn't very pronounced. So I remodeled and printed DSE#2 at 3.5" & 0.2mm layers (pictured). Then I modeled DSE #3, scaling it down prior to saving, so it imports on the print bed at ~3.5". I haven't printed DSE #3 yet, but I'm sure it will print fine. I used Prusa slicer and printed support over Antarctica only.
