Inspired by http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:117733 and http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:106329 by plainolddave, I wanted to remix them but ended up with so many changes that I completely rebuilt it in openscad from scratch. Still retaining the same dimensions, the display stand fits perfectly, designed by muckychris on thingiverse. The bottom part can be easily twisted to toggle the lights. To bring this project to life, you'll need a 9V block battery, an MTS-1 toggle switch, six 5mm LEDs, one M5x8 allen key screw, a short allen key for fastening, and a green 3mm LED with an attached 330 Ohm resistor for the laser. If you're not comfortable with basic soldering skills, it's recommended to skip illumination. I added some Neodymium magnets to make mounting easier, and I will upload a picture of my finished project later on. Print Settings: Printer Brand: MakerBot Printer Model: MakerBot Replicator (5th Generation) Rafts: Yes Supports: Doesn't Matter Resolution: 0.2mm Infill Percentage: 10% Notes: I printed it using natural PLA with a 0.2mm layer height and a 0.4mm nozzle, applying makerbot standard settings. Post-Printing: If you're interested in seeing the detailed building process, you can find it here: http://imgur.com/a/J0H66 After printing, I spray painted my project. The intentional holes gave the appearance of illuminated rooms or windows. Designing This Project: The design was created using openscad. Although the script may seem messy due to my rushed work, I would be happy to share it with anyone who asks.
