Mighty warriors while alive, death knights are undead creatures raised to unlife by the dark and evil forces, demon princes or dark deities. Most often they were noble and mighty paladins, distinguished servants of all that is good and holy, but they have either become corrupted by their own secret failings or by machinations of evil forces which led them to the path of darkness Their physical form is that of their decayed body, their face is a blackened skull with pinpoints of cruel red or orange light, and their voice is chilling and echoing. They tend to continue to rule their keeps or even realms when they descend into undeath, and they frequently gather a court of foul undead beings in a grim parody of a noble’s castle.
